Press release no. 98/12
04/07/2012

The inauguration of the first editions of the two events saw qualified conference sessions and an excellent turnout of visitors, characterized by internationality.

"We will have to face up to highly stimulating challenges and, with everyone’s valuable contribution, we aim to create - here in Buenos Aires - an important annual event on wind and solar energy, a showcase dedicated to technologies made in Argentina, but which can develop international contacts to benefit both the country, by creating new export opportunities, as well as the global community of the sector. Exploiting the important potential of the Argentinean market, and developing the leading role that this country is destined to have even more in the future in renewable energies in Latin America, are the aims of Eolica Argentina and Solar Argentina, which could be protagonists and promoters of these changes."

This is what Marco Pinetti, president of Artenergy Publishing, said during the inauguration of Eolica Argentina 2012, the fair dedicated to the wind energy industry in Argentina, and Solar Argentina 2012, the event on photovoltaic, thermal and CSP energy, which started yesterday, Tuesday 3 July, at the La Rural exhibition centre of Buenos Aires, and continuing until Thursday 5 July.

The first day of the events attracted considerable interest among Argentinean media, and saw an excellent turnout of visitors, some of whom from the United States and Canada.

"Our aim is to make the Argentinean industry ever more zero emissions, to produce ?new’ energy while safeguarding the planet, and to also think ahead to the world that we will be handing over to future generations, starting from our children," concluded Pinetti.

Among those present at the inauguration, Erico Spinadel president of Aaee, the Argentinean Wind Energy Association, which had a fundamental role in the creation of the event, along with other important representatives from organizations and institutions supporting Eolica Argentina and Solar Argentina.

Tomas Hogan, from Centrales de la Costa Atlantica, the public utility owned by the province of Buenos Aires, concerned with producing and marketing electricity, with four power stations of total installed power of 510 MW on the Atlantic coast of Argentina, presented a road map of the possible wind energy installations in the province of Buenos Aires.

This first day of the events also included qualified conference sessions dealing with interesting topics. Rubén Fabrizio spoke on behalf of the Argentinean Wind Energy Cluster, an association that aims at promoting national installations, which has, as members, 52 important companies of the wind energy sector and connected industries, highlighting the importance of wind energy as a platform for national industrial development.

Representatives of two important companies of the Argentinean Wind Energy Cluster exhibiting at Eolica Argentina 2012 also took part in the debate: Juan Ismael Retuerto from Nrg Patagonia - an important manufacture of wind energy turbines - and Rubén Sanchez Perco of Impsa Wind, a company with more than a century of history, and present in more than 27 countries around the world with renewable energy projects, and leader in the South American area.

Today’s conferences focus on: components, systems and technologies for wind energy turbines; financing, control systems; optimization and integration of the renewable energy system; development of the sector in industry and in universities.
